Sport in Mind and SERCO Leisure announce ground breaking partnership

Sport in Mind, the UK's leading mental health sports charity, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with one of the UK's leading national operators of leisure centres; Serco Leisure, with the two organisations working together to improve mental health through sport and physical activity across the country.

Serco Leisure will be supporting Sport in Mind with facilities and venues for sports for mental wellbeing sessions, enabling the charity to provide their vital service in more areas of the country, whilst Sport in Mind will support Serco Leisure in developing understanding and awareness within the Serco Leisure community of the power of sport and physical activity for mental health.

Laurie Jamie Williams,  Partnership Manager at SERCO Leisure said: "At Serco Leisure, we know how powerful sport and physical activity can be for our mental wellbeing. That’s why we’re proud to align with organisations like Sport In Mind, who share our passion for making sport more inclusive and supportive for everyone. Together, by championing the same values, we’re helping create healthier, more connected communities.’

The partnership will also champion the power of sport for mental wellbeing at key moments throughout the year, with tournaments, workshops, assemblies for schools and volunteer progammes all in the pipeline to further enable and empower both adults and young people to make the connection between physical health and positive mental health.

Beth Marriott, National Partnerships Manager at Sport in Mind says: “Partnering with Serco Leisure allows us to extend our reach and impact, ensuring more people across the UK have access to inclusive, supportive physical activity opportunities. Together, we’re not just promoting sport - we’re building a movement that prioritises mental health, fosters connection, and empowers individuals to thrive.”

Howard Hastings, Active Communities & Sport Inclusion Manager at Serco Leisure said: “I'm thrilled about the new partnership between Serco Leisure and Sport in Mind. This collaboration will have a significant local impact, enabling us to offer greater mental and physical support to our communities and deliver a more holistic, wellbeing-focused approach. Our national centres will benefit greatly, using the power of sport to inspire, educate, and promote positive mental health for individuals at all levels of participation.”

The partnership launched on Friday with a Sport in Mind x Serco Leisure Sports Day at one of their flagship locations Bisham Abbey with the two organisations joining together to announce the partnership and celebrate the power of sport!
