Graham Chapman Graham Chapman, with his medal after finishing the London Marathon this year in 3:25:57, aged 69. Graham discovered running in his late forties. After years of feeling unhealthy and weighing over 15 stone, he decided to make a change. In 2004, he joined Ely Runners, and later Ely Tri Club. That first step changed the course of his life. Since then, he has completed around 100 marathons, two Ironman races and over 500 parkruns, with an incredible average time of 20:26. He has also represented Team GB at European and World age-group triathlon championships, finishing 4th in Europe and 11th in the world, and captained Great Britain age-group competitors at the European Championships in Lisbon in 2016. Next year, he hopes to return to the London Marathon as a 70-year-old and raise money for Sport in Mind. For Graham, sport keeps him young, healthy and light. It gives him confidence, purpose and a reason to keep moving forward. His story is proof that it is never too late to begin again, and that one decision, made at any age, can open the door to a life you never imagined. Back to gallery Manage Cookie Preferences
